Grieving Angel

This piece was a commission work for a very special collector. Her and I shared a very deep connection through mutual loss of someone very dear to us. The inspiration for this work came from the status in old European cemeteries of angels. There to protect and guard loved ones who have passed away. Originally an ink drawing I did when my heart was broken over Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. I was a new mother at the time and the event touched me very deeply. This work later turned into a painting for the previously mentioned collector.
